Review:

I wondered how far von Neumann machines as a center point for a story could go.  I didn't think very far, but this book is excellent.  It is amazing to me that Taylor keeps coming up with complex and believable ideas on how the future might unroll.  Really enjoyed this book.

This is simply another great story.  I really enjoyed the way that Taylor continues to make this series fresh and useful.  It is truly an amazing series and I particularly enjoyed the way that Taylor is looking at how other possible intelligences might exist and how they might interact with humans in general and Von Neuman probes in particular.

I just love this series.  The basic concept (a mind is uploaded to a computer) is interesting, but combining it with a von Neuman machine is brilliant.  Add in alien contact on many different levels and it is hard not to love this book.

Review:

I really enjoyed this book.  It had a good mix of adventure and humor.  Taylor also took on a serious sci-fi issue--what if your brain was put into a computer.  How would that work?  How would you deal with the time loss?  How would you not go insane knowing that everything was truly just a phantom of something that once actually was.  Taylor also went after the Von Neumann approach to interstellar space exploration which I truly love.  There is so much to recommend in this book and I cannot encourage anyone enough to get the audio version where you get to hear all the different voices of Bob.  Really enjoyed it.
